  3. hn, (en): Was, verb to be in imperfect tense (Past / continuous sense.)
  4. kai (kai): and, this is general used in John.
  5. ho logos: The Word (The root meaning from lego, ? eulogew à eulogy
  6. pro" with the acc. usually means 'in the presence of? with.
  7. ton theon: object form of God (theos). With article: means The God?
  8. qeo" hjn oJ logo" Theos: Subject form of God. (Here is without article!) Special usage: without article can imply attributes or characteristics. Here it can mean Divinity.?There is a heresy using this as a support. Christ only has divinity, but not the ONLY God Himself. Barrett has said, "qeo" being without the article is predicative and describes the nature of the Word. The absence of the article indicates that the Word is God but is not the only being of whom this is true... John intends that the whole of his gospel shall be read in the light of this verse. The deeds and words of Jesus are the deeds and words of God."
