      A. 起源:

      1. 使徒保羅在第二次出外傳道的旅程中 , 他創辦了哥林多教會 . 可在使徒行傳十八章一至十八節中找著 .
      2. 他在馬其頓建立好幾個教會 , 但逼迫把他趕到雅典 .
      3. 在雅典 , 他的工作也不太成功 , 後來到哥林多找著因把革老丟遷逃來的亞居拉和百基拉 : 以織帳棚為業 , 邊作邊傳褔音 .
      4. 西拉 和提摩太來到哥林多 , 他們 “ 為道迫切 ”( 使 18:5), 就在哥林多開始了一種緊張而全盤的傳道服務 .
      5. 西拉 從腓立比來 , 帶了一筆頗有可觀的捐款 ( 林後 11:8-9), 就釋去用手作工的勞苦 , 叫他可以積極去傳道 .
      6. 他十分努力要使猶太人信服耶穌為彌賽亞 , 結果 , 引起了強烈的反對 .
      7. 他怕自己在帖撒羅尼迦受逼害的遭遇會重演 , 就想離開 , 以免跟從自己的人受累 .
      8. 神在夜間安慰及保證他們的工作 ( 徒 8:9-10).
      9. 他們遂多住下 , 堅固當地的教會 .

      1. 會友 : 有希臘人 , 羅馬 人 , 猶太 人及別國籍的人 . 有些猶太人從外邦人來的 . 但以教會的特徵而言 , 則大多數的會友是希臘人 .
      2. 他們的出身或社會階層比國藉攻更為參差 , 土農工商 , 貧富貴賤 , 奴隸自主 , 君子妓女 , 各色其色 .
      3. 哥林多 異教和一些古舊的道德習慣與實踐 , 潛進教會 , 使教會影響不少 .

簡介：這本書是保羅在馬其頓寫的　(林後2:13 ; 7:5-7 )。可能是在腓立比寫的 。因為與林前的關係十分密切，所以可能相隔的時間不到一年或一年以上，甚至可能只有幾個月。這信是由提多所送的，也有一位弟兄同行處理一年前未完成的捐款的事(林後8:16-24; 8:10) 。
